Titanic struggle between both teams on the weekend with Cockburn emerging with a 1 shot win and 5 points in another heart breaker for Gosnells. The rink of Paul Brotherston secured a 7 shot win and that was enough to carry the aggregate with all other rinks ending in narrow wins for Gosnells. Unfortunately what it also means is that both teams will now both be relegated and will head back to 2nd division next season. Cockburn did have an outside chance of surviving but that prospect is now gone given Dalkeith were victorious on the weekend. Only pride to play for in the final match of the season next week.
A big win to Kardinya over Willetton in what ended up being a pretty one sided contest. Garry Knight with a strong win over Cameron Girvan put Kardinya on the way and then wins from Gale and Flintoff put the icing on the cake. Kardinya will finish second and head to One White next season so congratulations to them. Willetton with still a bit to play for next week where they will be hoping for a strong win and a chance at jumping into the top 6 on the ladder.
Rockingham 71 (2) vs Armadale 74 (6)
(Bradley Cole 21 - Eddie Gollan 13) (Bruce Edwards 12 - Daniel Brown 18) (Mark Devenny 27 - Stewart Gosstray 19) (Victor Arriagada 11 - Kevin McKay 24)
Armadale secured win 15 for the season with a hard fought win over Rockingham. Rockingham took it right up to the champs but in the end Armadale were just too good with strong wins to Daniel Brown and Kevin McKay allowing for a 3 shot win. Bradley Cole and Mark Devenny both had good wins themselves but it was all in vain. A win next week to Armadale would mean 16 wins for the season – a pretty fair effort while Rockingham now well and truly safe in the top 6.
Rossmoyne 71 (2) vs Dalkeith Nedlands 75 (6)
(Anthony Churcher 18 - Jesse Brown 21) (David Horniman 6 - Michael Yates 24) (Rawley Lang 18 - Darren Redeckis 16) (Raymond Halse 29 - Martin Saunders 14)
A surprise in this one with Dalkeith doing enough for a 6-2 win over the in form Rossmoyne side. It was Michael Yates who did the heavy lifting for Dalkeith with an 18 shot win over David Horniman helping to carry the aggregate. Dalkeith now look certain to face a challenge match from a 2nd division side in the first week of the finals and will prepare for this next week when the take on Kardinya. Rossmoyne well and truly in the top 6 so not a lot for them to play for next week.
Safety Bay 71 (1.5) vs South Perth 87 (6.5)
(Bruce McLean 17 - Wayne Bezant 13) (Raymond Clark 14 - Neale Griffin 26) (Ron Hall 18 - John Carter 26) (Steven Adams 22 - Steve Kelly 22)
Great win to South Perth away at Safety Bay to help them secure 3rd place on the ladder and promotion to One White next season. It was the experienced duo of Griffin and Carter doing the work at avenue that is always hard to win at. Safety Bay possibly now in a bit of strife and in danger of dropping out of the top 6 come the end of Round 18. They take on our premiers away from home and a defeat in that match combined with a win by Willetton over Cockburn could see the two teaks swap places on the ladder. So all to play for next week for Safety Bay.
