(Aaron Gale 21 - Paul Brotherston 12) (Garry Knight 28 - Mark (Sydney) Game 13) (John Rochford 23 - James Wylie 19) (Stephen Vinci 16 - John Wray 18)
Comfortable 26 shot victory to Kardinya on Saturday and 7 points to keep them in the top 3 on the ladder. Wins to Gale, Knight and Rochford took care of business whilst John Wray secured the solitary point for Cockburn with a 2 shot win over Steve Vinci.
Kardinya looking solid at this early stage of the season but the real test for them will come next week when they travel to Rockingham to take on the ladder leader. Top spot is up for grabs in what could be a season defining clash for both sides. Cockburn return home to take on Dalkeith in what is a must win match for them.
Rossmoyne 71 (2) vs Rockingham 77 (6)
(Anthony Churcher 15 - Mark Devenny 19) (Craig Edson 20 - Marcus Simpson 15) (Raymond Halse 18 - Bruce Edwards 15) (Reza Vind 18 - Bradley Cole 28)
I did think before the match that Rossmoyne would really take it up to Rockingham at home and they did but fell just short with a 6 shot defeat. Wins to Ray Halse and the combative Craig Edson over Marcus Simpson secured 2 points but new recruit Bradley Cole was the big winner for Rockingham with a 10 shot win over Reza Vind. Rossmoyne back on the road next week and will be looking for their first win of the season at Safety Bay. Rockingham back at home for the clash of the top 2 on the ladder when they take on Kardinya in what is shaping as match of the season year to date.
Dalkeith Nedlands 99 (7) vs Gosnells 71 (1)
(Darren Redeckis 24 - Lachlan Smith 18) (Jesse Brown 31 - Rue Bishop 13) (Martin Saunders 20 - Eoghan Gahan 24) (Michael Yates 24 - Brett Holland 16)
Dalkeith get their season underway with a solid victory over Gosnells at the weekend. Strong wins to Jesse Brown, Darren Redeckis and Michael Yates helped Dalkeith secure 7 points whilst Eoghan Gahan was the lone winner for the away side with a 4 shot win over Martin Saunders. Dalkeith will be relieved to get their first win and out off the bottom 2 spots on the ladder. Next week they travel to Cockburn for another important match where they will look to make it two on the trot. Gosnells back at home also for a must win match where they take on the strong South Perth outfit.
South Perth 76 (1.5) vs Armadale 81 (6.5)
(Neale Griffin 12 - Kevin McKay 26) (Robert Urquhart 18 - Stewart Gosstray 24) (Steve Kelly 27 - Daniel Brown 12) (Wayne Bezant 19 - Eddie Gollan 19)
Looks like a tough match that went right down to the wire where it was the away side, Armadale who emerged victorious with 6.5 important points. Kevin McKay did the heavy lifting with strong win over the experienced Neale Griffin rink. Steve Kelly for South Perth matched this result with an equally strong win over Daniel Brown. In the end the Stewie Gosstray rink emerged with a 5 shot win and that was enough to secure the aggregate. Next week Armadale back at home for a clash with Willetton whilst South Perth are back on the road when they will travel to Gosnells.
Willetton 76 (6) vs Safety Bay 75 (2)
(Alan Walters 17 - Ron Hall 15) (Cameron Girvan 17 - Raymond Clark 23) (Gavin Dodge 18 - Raymond Kennedy 12) (Justin Wright 24 - Scott Gallon 25)
Our final match of the round was a nailbiter but in the end Willetton were able to scramble to a one shot win over a competitive Safety Bay outfit. This is Willetton second one shot aggregate win this season and what a difference 2 shots can make to your ladder position. For once the Girvan rink was defeated by Ray Clark and his team but this allowed Alan Walters and Gavin Dodge to step up and secure the points with some close victories. Willetton will be pleased with this but they face a tough away match next week when they travel to tackle the powerful Armadale team. Safety Bay looking the goods this early in the season and they will fancy their chances when back at home against the winless Rossmoyne outfit.
