Bottom-placed Cambridge host the ladder-leading Mounters in a clash that looks more like David vs Goliath… if David forgot his slingshot. Cambridge continue to reshuffle as they chase their first win, while the Mounters slot Connell in for Morris and look every bit like a unit sharpening their sword for the long season ahead. With the Mount Lawley skips humming, the visitors simply bring a stronger 16. Cambridge might pinch a rink at home, but that’s where the joy ends.
Mounters 7–1

Robert Geikie, Jason Deans, Gavin Grieve, Phillip Leyland INS: Deans OUTS: Mitchell
Somehow this game is 6th vs 8th even though Yanchep started last round sitting on top — a perfect snapshot of how ridiculously tight this division is. Rink points will decide everything in March. Morley showed plenty of grit last week against Wanneroo, while Yanchep copped a full-blown bagel at the Mounting Yard. But back on their home turf, the Roses are a thorn in the side of any visiting team — they’ve won 23 of their last 24 rinks at home. Insane. Expect them to rocket back up the ladder, though they’ll need to sort out their travel sickness or they’ll keep bouncing like a yoyo all year.
Yanchep 8–0
Sorrento v Quinns Rocks

Peter Wilson, Scott Richmond, Rohan Cantrill, Erron Martin INS: Carrigan OUTS: Ferris
Quinns roll in buzzing after a thumping win over the bottom side, while Sorrento pushed the Lions hard last week. Dunstan returns for the Swans and brings his undefeated record with him — a massive in. Quinns lose Ferris as Erron Martin takes over the skipping duties. This is a tough one to pick: Sorrento desperately need it to stay in touch with the finals pack, while Quinns winning would start to crack open a genuine top-four divide. Sorrento have only managed five rink wins at home, but Quinns aren’t exactly the Harlem Globetrotters on the road either.
With little confidence…
Sorrento 6–2
Wanneroo v Ellenbrook
Wanneroo
Glen Jack, Robert Burns, Kyle Rayner, Kingsley Toster
Gregory Sarich, Harold Whitman, Eckhard Widermanski, Pieter Geus
Leslie Bryson, Noel Davey, Martin Nievelstein, David Triffitt
Neil Williams, Gareth Hughes, Derek Griffin, David Anderson INS: Rayner OUTS: McKenner
The Roo Boys welcome the Brook Boys in what sounds more like a showdown between two rival teenage gangs than a Saturday pennant match. Wanneroo sit 2nd and will see this as a chance to cement themselves in the top three. Ellenbrook sit in the bottom two and will be hoping — praying — to snag a rink and avoid heading home with a donut. Sadly for them, the bakery will be open. This could get messy.
Wanneroo 8–0
Warwick v Bassendean

Hamish Holman, Nick Pleasance, Joel Hitchcock, Jovan Krstic
Norman Kirkup, Shane Colegate, Nolan Hall, Butch Dinnison INS: H Holman, Hitchcock, Krstic OUTS: Sheppard, Chaney, Stokes
Only a single point separates these two, making this a genuine double-pointer. Warwick make a couple of changes while Bassendean bring in two skips — and it’s great to see Kristina’s dad back out there. Basso are prowling after four straight wins and would love to add some Magpie to the menu, but Warwick at home are no soft touch. With Wright sitting atop the skip ladder and playing beautifully, the Magpies should cling on in a tight one.
