We are starting to see a spread across the ladder now & it’s getting noticeable. If North Beach & Safety Bay win then both will great a gap on the rest. It will be interesting if they pull away before Christmas because that R5 deferrable to 11 January could then be considered game of the year. You’d imagine whoever wins that has bragging rights for the big ticket to PL.

It’s hard not to back the Saints with a real solid backend but again that’s just names on paper & the Saints are not getting themselves out of trouble on names or titles, they need a blocker load of points. You might think this is harsh but I’d go as far to say that if the Saints lose the next 3 games which are all at home, they’re gone, like proper gone to 1 Blue. They have the next 3 at home, then maybe 2 from then to R18.
The good news for the Saints is this is a genuine double pointer as they sit 8th but Dolphins sit 9th. The only consolation is they playing a side with maybe 2 good rinks & the rest are prating not to be the blowout rinks every week. Tough game for both sides but marginally Saints because if they don’t they’re heading to a tricky place for 2026.

The Reds are like a rabbit chased by 10 greyhounds, yes they are theoretically alive it’s only for a matter of time before they are ripped limb from limb. Yes they’ve been close to winning a game but I’ve been close to winning the Lotto but hey no cigar!!
Cougars are sitting 3rd on the ladder but yet probably not too close to the top 2 to chat regarding genuine contention. Both sides have that 4th rink that can produce anything on the day. Back end the Cougars have the advantage but I’ve just a funny feeling this is the Reds weekend to get their first win of the season & build.

INS: No changes
OUTS:

The Eagles have been a little wobbly at home but in fairness so have the Kats with multiple home losses over the last month
Few changes this week for Manning where the Hoggs are out but the Heals are in. Both sides are dropped the ball a little over the last few weeks so this could swing either way. I worry about who’s carrying Manning & at the moment it’s everyone which is amazing team work but they are struggling to have any skippers in the top 20 but Kats have 2 in the top 15.
Tough 1 to call but maybe Eagles given Kats recent Wobblies

Mosman Park v North Beach

Peter Merritt, Tyrell Stanley Brown, Paul Knight, Joe McGinlay
Jerome Clayton, Geoffrey Devenish, Chris Margin, Gavin Crosthwaite
INS: Eagles, Knight
OUTS: Gregson, Butler

Mossies are pumped for this one. They’ve been here before against the Beach Boys & it’s been a mixed bag. Mossies are running 50/50 to R8 but yet they’re closer to the bottom than the top even though they’re 6th spot.
Douthie is the target, let’s be real. He’s 1 of only 3 unbeaten skippers in the top 4 divisions. He’s 160% so it’s not just close wins, the rink is genuinely thrashing sides.
There’s so many reasons to go with North Beach & they’ll be absolute odds-on to win here but Mossies need to dig deep & show up with conviction. Can’t be more than 9 shots in this.

North Perth v Safety Bay

Sripaiwan (Keay) Buttanu, Debbie Smith, Peter Webster, Grant Taylor
Alan Andersson, Christopher Owen, Lexie Webster, Graeme Smith
Anthony Ballard, Scott Foran, Stephen Hide, Aaron Smith
INS: No changes
OUTS:

GAME OF THE ROUND: North Perth are coming off that screaming Agg at the Katsby a single shot in an epic game after only taking 1 from the previous 16, all thanks to the Special K(ay). They now have 6 from the last 24 so they’ll still need a good Agg here to balance the ledger.
Really hard to fault both sides are they finding a way to win every week but The Bay have had the tougher draw & are playing at a level most teams need to benchmark off. Whatever the Pioneers get from this secondary, the primary is understanding where they sit against a side that probably just can’t be considered outside of the top 2. I’m happy to back the home side for an upset given the heroics last week but they’ll have to earn it like they’ve never earned a game before & it’ll take more than a 1 rink blowout to put the Bay away.
