Cambridge 75 (3) vs Sorrento 75 (5)
(Garry Hawkes 14 - Brad Wicks 17)
(Neil Bolton 17 - David Dunstan 24)
(Peter Easom 15 - Richard Bone 20)
(Stuart Lofthouse 29 - Lance Martin 14)
The Swans flew into the Stable with no fear, mainly because the fortress Cambridge once was is now looking more like a wet sandcastle at high tide. Wicks, Dunstan and Bone all got their rinks done, which on any other day would be enough for the agg — but Mr Roll-Up himself, Stuart Lofthouse, had other ideas. He galloped to a massive 15-shot win over Big Lance to drag the agg back to level and help Cambridge achieve their highest pennant score of the season: 3. Sorrento still walk away with a handy 5 away points and climb into the top three. Cambridge remain rooted to the bottom, almost three aggregates behind seventh. Someone fetch the defibrillator.

Ellenbrook 70 (1) vs Bassendean 80 (7)
(Aaron Cole 15 - Grant Stokes 25)
(Josef Rollnik 16 - Butch Dinnison 17)
(Michael L Ryan 24 - John Holman 21)
(Robert Ball 15 - Jovan Krstic 17)
The Basso Pride travelled to the Valley ready to pounce on the… Swans? Geese? Pigeons? (Still seeking Ellenbrook’s spirit animal.) Ryan picked up a nice home point over Holman, but from there it was a gentle slide into sadness. Butch pinched one over Rollnik, Kristina’s dad slipped past Robbie Ball by two, and Stoker picked up the cans with his 10-shot win over Cole.
That’s three on the trot for Basso, who now sit comfortably in the mid-table mix. Ellenbrook suffer another tough home loss — devastating, because away wins for them might be scarce.

Wanneroo 87 (7) vs Mount Lawley 60 (1)
(David Anderson 33 - Michael Erceg 5)
(David Triffitt 20 - Andrew Jones 15)
(Kingsley Toster 13 - Laurence Kelly 20)
(Pieter Geus 21 - John Cottier 20)
This game reminded everyone that this division is tighter than a pair of bowls pants fresh out of the dryer. These two clubs remain less predictable than Usman Khawaja’s opening batting partner and stay firmly in the “could play finals… but also might finish 7th” bracket.
Anderson was thirsty and thoroughly enjoyed his post-game pint after dismantling the usually-strong Erceg rink by 28 shots. Triffitt dashed AJ’s hopes of a bench seat in Tassie, winning by five, and Geus snuck over the line by one against Cottier. Laurie the Lizard pegged one back for the visitors with a 7-shot win over Toster which is nothing to spit at.
Wanneroo jump into the top four, while Mount Lawley might want to splash some cold water on their faces (IYKYK) before heading home next week.

Warwick 71 (6.5) vs Morley 68 (1.5)
(Geoffrey Hinge 15 - Phillip Leyland 15)
(Glenn Yabuka 21 - Christopher Bell 23)
(Ivan Sparrowhawk 15 - Les Spinks 14)
(Sean Wright 20 - Andrew Elmer 16)
The Maggies and Mavericks went at it in a surprisingly tight contest. Hinge and Leyland couldn’t be separated, Bell edged out Yabbie by two, and Sparrowhawk swooped in to steal a point off the Ferrit. Wright’s 4-shot win over Elmer secured the agg, keeping Warwick safely in the top two while leaving Morley with plenty of homework. Their season currently feels like a lawn bowl on a fast green — sliding away quickly.

Yanchep 109 (8) vs Quinns Rocks 59 (0)
(Callum Arnold 32 - Shane Smith 9)
(Chris Street 26 - Hugh Ward 13)
(Daniel Hartzer 32 - Steve ONeill 20)
(Michael Tomasso 19 - Warrick Ferris 17)
What. A. Statement.
Forget about Jenny — the Yanchep boys are the real New Kids on the Block. They’ve launched themselves to the top of the ladder with another dominant home victory. Visiting teams are finding the Yanchep surface about as friendly as a swooping magpie, and Quinns were no exception as they copped a 50-shot shellacking.
Callum Arnold proved we should all listen to our wives; his rink collected the cans with a monstrous 23-shot mauling of the strong Smith rink. Hartzer remains unbeaten with a 12-shot win over O’Neill. Tomasso got up over Ferris by two, and Hugh Ward was clearly too busy preparing for his upcoming VB commercial, going down to Street by 13.
Quinns slip to seventh, but the table is tighter than a few of my mates when it’s their round at the bar — so no reason to panic. Yanchep, however, sit proudly on top of the pile and look very, very dangerous.
