Skippers records read as NAME (Win,Loss,Draw)
Round 1 is here and it’s the final year of the 18 week season as we cut down to 8 teams next year. Mt Lawley after an incredible season last year will be looking to back it up once again. Manning have recruited very well in the offseason and will be looking to dethrone the premiers. Leeming and Cockburn get a chance at the big dance this year and we have some exciting games first up, with that being said let’s get into it.

What a ripper to start off with as the premiers head to Sth Perth for a Friday night match of the round. Jack East will make his debut and the Mounters will be looking to get off to a good start. The Millers missing out on finals last year for the first time in quite some years and will be looking to bounce back. The Millers have lost some big names and have been in this position before and do have a very good Friday night record but im going to go the premiers for this one.

The Knights take on newcomers Cockburn and they face a tough task in their return to premier. Living Legend Steve Shroy comes back into the top side and have gained the services of Jordan King a very handy bowler for New Zealand. The Knights have lost some big names also in the off season but still have plenty of experience as they welcome back Lance Strahan into the lineup. Cockburn would love to kick off their return with an upset win but I think the home side will be too strong
Cambridge 7-1

Anthony Williams, Brian Eather, Peter Boys, James Bowden (0W ,0L ,0D)
INS: Lipple, Hodge
OUTS: Andersson, Johnson

Manning Wow! What an offseason and I’m not sure they kept under the salary cap, but they have come from everywhere to give the Eagles a massive chance of taking out the flag this year. 3 big ins from South Perth plus an influx of country experience I think these guys are the team to beat this year. Leeming coming up from white and I think they would need to start playing on Friday to give themselves any hope of winning this one. I think we could see the first egg for the season
Manning 8-0

Sorrento v Doubleview

Sorrento
Steve Mortimer, Brad Pearce, Wade Clatworthy, Chris Leggett (8W ,9L ,1D)
Geoff Murray, Ian Munro, Bruce Eagles, Paul Knight (18W ,28L ,2D)
Greg Taylor, Peter Flack, Ronald Haring, Murray Hulbert (8W ,5L ,0D)
James Barry, Edan Manifis, Brody Dix, Rhett Butler (127W ,136L ,7D)
INS: Mortimer, Pearce, Munro, Haring, Barry, Manifis, Dix
OUTS: Morgan, Walton, Augustson, Buckley, Douglass, Marshall, Cunningham

Doubleview
Ben Conway, Paul Kelly, Tom Whitfield, Ryan Moyle (85W ,46L ,3D)
Gary Nelson, Ben Willesee, Addy Wetzler, Charles Slavich (98W ,58L ,6D)
Gavin Faulkner, Stephen Cerff, John Slavich, Bradley White (2W ,3L ,0D)
Michael Leed, Brandon Heta, Kyle McIlroy, Anthony Williams (58W ,45L ,7D)
INS: Conway, Kelly
OUTS: Griffiths, Pearce

Sorrento will be looking to improve this season at home and have gained some handy players. They did beat Doubleview last year and will be confident they can do it again. Doubleview will also be looking for a better season as Paul Kelly comes into the line up. I’ve always struggled picking Sorrento and wouldn’t surprise me if they did it again but I’m going to pick the View to start their season with a win
Doubleview 6-2

Osborne Park v Bassendean

Osborne Park
Tyrone Alberti, Ty Vandertogt, John Goddard, Ryan Brown (36W ,34L ,2D)
Ian Lilburne, Andrew Pasalich, Kevin Pickering, Segan Pasalich (10W ,9L ,3D)
Jeremy Thomas, Christopher Orchard, Brad Gillingham, Cameron Green (3W ,2L ,0D)
Grant Nicol, Tristan Massang, Callum Alberti, Dale Marsland (32W ,29L ,1D)
INS: Vandertogt, Thomas, Gillingham, Green
OUTS: Rudd, East, King, Biddle

Bassendean
Brett Tie, Arthur Bartlett, Ruairi Kenyon, Simon Alden (64W ,58L ,5D)
Ian O'Neill, Tony Cahill, Stein Davies, David Rhodes (66W ,70L ,5D)
Scott Bermingham, Eugene O'Sullivan, Linton Pike, Wayne Neilson (38W ,47L ,9D)
Lloyd McKay, Matthew Watson, Russell Ellis, Wesley Neilson (5W ,11L ,1D)
INS: Cahill, Bartlett, O'Neill
OUTS: Stokes, Whitely, Kirkup

Our final game sees last year’s runners up the Saints hosting the Lions. Although the Saints have lost young star Jack East they have recruited Cam Green and Brad Gillingham. A couple of handy recruits also for the Lions and will be looking to give themselves a chance of playing finals this year. Saints will be looking for another strong year and I think they will get the job done today
Osborne Park 7-1
