Skippers records read as NAME (Win,Loss,Draw)
The doubleheader round is here and although it is very early in the season we may just see a bit of a breakup in the field. Rather than do each match separate we will take a look at each club and who they come up against over the weekend. We will go as the table stands so lets get into it
Manning vs Cockburn (A) Cambridge (A)
The Eagles after chalking up a big win last week now find themselves on the road for the weekend. First they head to the new surface of Cockburn and then to take on the Knights. If they can win both of these on the road it will set them up nicely when they next head back home. With Miles Kemp coming back into the line up only strengthens them up front. Cockburn will be tricky as it will be new conditions for them and the Knights weren’t super flash in their win. I think they can win both.
Manning v Cockburn 6-2
Manning v Cambridge 6-2
South Perth vs Cambridge (H) Bassendean (H)
The Millers with a great start to the season beating the premiers last week and will be looking to capitalise on that with both games at home this week. They host the Knights who have the same surface and then host the Lions on Sunday. With their first 3 games at home they will be wanting to win at least 1 of these games but im backing them to get the job done with both.
Sth Perth v Cambridge 6-2
Sth Perth v Bassendean 7-1
Osborne Park vs Doubleview (A) Leeming (H)
The Saints will be looking for as many points as possible this week as they head to Doubleview and then host Leeming. They should take care of the newcomers pretty easily but the tricky one will be the View especially with Gillingham out. Im going 50/50 on them this week
Osborne Park v Doubleview 2-6
Osborne Park v Leeming 8-0
Sorrento vs Leeming (A) Cockburn (H)
A great opportunity here for Sorrento as they take on both newcomers this week. Leeming on the road is certainly no given before taking on Cockburn back home on Sunday. I got them wrong last week and no doubt I will do it again but I’m going to back them to make it 3 from 3
Sorrento v Leeming 6-2
Sorrento v Cockburn 6-2
Cambridge vs Sth Perth (A) Manning (H)
Cambridge did enough to get the job done last week and face a tough challenge in the doubleheader round this week. 1 from 2 over the weekend will keep them in the top half of the table and win both would get them close to top spot. Tough to pick really as they could easily win or lose both of these but I think they have a tough task ahead of them.
Cambridge v Sth Perth 2-6
Cambridge v Manning 2-6
Cockburn vs Manning (H) Sorrento (A)
Very interested to see how Cockburn perform this week. After a great performance in their return last week, they have a great opportunity to win on their new surface at home against one of the competition Favorites. Sunday they head to Sorrento who as we know are a bit of a mixed bag at home. Tough task for them but let’s see what they can do.
Cockburn v Manning 2-6
Cockburn v Sorrento 2-6
Doubleview vs Osborne Park (H) Mt Lawley (A)
Big weekend for the View here playing both last years finalists. Really need to get off to a good start at home against the Saints before heading over to take on the Premiers on Sunday. Loose both of these and although its early days it could be a long season again for the former champs. Im 50/50 with this one.
Doubleview v Osborne Park 6-2
Doubleview v Mt Lawley 2-6
Bassendean vs Mt Lawley (H) Sth Perth (A)
The Lions have it all ahead of them this week as they host the premiers and head to Sth Perth. They are going to have to try and find a way to win at least one of these games otherwise its an uphill battle from here. Real tough task this but I think the Lions might be in the beef after the weekend
Bassendean v Mt Lawley 1-7
Bassendean v Sth Perth 1-7
Mt Lawley vs Bassendean (A) Doubleview (H)
The premiers will be looking to bounce back after losing round 1. They head to the Den first before hosting Doubleview in their first home game of the season. They have got the better of the Lions the last couple of years and I think they should get the job done at home.
Mt Lawley v Bassendean 7-1
Mt Lawley v Doubleview 6-2
Leeming vs Sorrento (H) Osborne Park (A)
Leeming get their first game at home taking on Sorrento then head to battle the Saints. I think they will cause some grief on their home track and would be hoping to open their account with a win. Sunday against the Saints will be a tough ask but lets see how they go.
Leeming v Sorrento 2-6
Leeming v Osborne Park 0-8
