The Eagles lead the field after scoring a tonne against the newcomers while the Millers got the job done against the premiers. All other results pretty much went to plan as we head into the double header round. Lets go through the round 1 results.
South Perth 84 (7) vs Mount Lawley 74 (1)
(Graeme Wishart 24 - Jack East 20) (Justin Opie 16 - Ben Leggett 24) (Paul Davies 20 - Daniel Trewhella 15) (Ross Bresland 24 - Corey Bessant 15)
On a wet and windy Friday night the Millers got off to a great start knocking off the premiers by 10. Ross Bresland 9 shot win set things up and was backed up Davies and Rooster Wishart who both recorded wins. Mr BPL Benny Leggatt kept the visitors in the hunt wish a 9 shot in over Just in Opie. The Millers stay at home when they take on Cambridge next while the Mounters head to the Lions Den.
Cambridge 96 (6) vs Cockburn 82 (2)
(Blake Nairn 42 - William Tepania 6) (Cameron Harris 28 - Michael Simunovic 23) (Clive Adams 15 - Marc Abonnel 23) (Steven Rushforth 11 - Tony Krajancic 30)
The knights have held on in an absolute scoreathon defeating Cockburn by 14 shots. 82 shots scored by the visitors would normally be more than enough to win but only managed to walk away with 2 points. Blake Nairns rink had a monster 36 shot win over big Willie and that got the job done for the home side. Still 2 points away from home for the newcomers is handy as they head for their first home game to take on the Eagles. The Knights head over to South Perth.
Manning 100 (7) vs Leeming 48 (1)
(Glenn Pauling 14 - Jim Newton 18) (Kristina Krstic 26 - Gary Ford 16) (Scott Walker 22 - James Bowden 9) (Warren Holt 38 - Karl Vandersluys 5)
No real surprise here with the Eagles having a convincing win over Leeming. Big Win for Warren Holt recording a 33 shot win over Karl Vandersluys. Kristina and new skipper Scotty Walker also recorded wins but the away side did manage to sneak a point to avoid the egg. Manning head to Cockburn next up while Leeming will be looking to kick off things when they take on Sorrento at home.
Sorrento 87 (6.5) vs Doubleview 77 (1.5)
(Chris Leggett 26 - Ryan Moyle 14) (Murray Hulbert 20 - Charles Slavich 19) (Paul Knight 21 - Bradley White 24) (Rhett Butler 20 - Anthony Williams 20)
Sorrento once again prove me wrong and have kicked off their season with a win at home over the View. 3 out of the 4 rinks were close but it was Chris Leggetts 12 shot win over Ryan Moyle that got the job done. Sorrento will be looking to make it back to back wins when the head to Leeming next week while Doubleview kick off their home campaign against the Saints.
Osborne Park 87 (6.5) vs Bassendean 64 (1.5)
(Cameron Green 14 - David Rhodes 17) (Dale Marsland 22 - Wayne Neilson 13) (Ryan Brown 30 - Wesley Neilson 13) (Segan Pasalich 21 - Simon Alden 21)
Good win for the Saints recording a 23 shot win over the Lions. The did the ol sneaky and played them on the synthetic which proved the right decision for the win. Ryan Brown was the big winner with a 17 shot win over Wes Neilsen. Big one for them as they head to Doubleview next and things don’t get any easier for the Lions as they host the premiers
