Well here we go, Round 18 is now upon us and what an exciting end to the season we have coming up. A lot of permutations and come Saturday night we will have some very happy teams and some that will be disappointed that there time in Blue South will be coming to an end. It will also be a hot one to finish off the season with a forecast temp of 37 degrees so all wins will be hard earned. So let’s have a quick look at the final round of fixtures.
Kalamunda v Cockburn

Kalamunda
Mark Thomas, Mark Potente, Gregory Trevaskis, Wayne Olive
Michael Turner, Andrew Brandsma, Mark Gill, William Brandsma
Robert Chalmers, Simon Maddy, David Park, Dwayne Wooltorton
Trevor Price, Bob Farrant, Arthur Bartlett, Frank Carbone

OUTS:

Cockburn
Robert Erskine, Alfred Edwards, Peter Burgess, Derek Gibson
Hal Chambers, Greg Collier, John Wray, James Wylie
Viktor Dropulic, Kevin Yakas, Giuseppi Galipo, Steve Srhoy
Guiseppe Reale, Marin Sokol, Kelli Wray, Paul Brotherston
INS: K Wray
OUTS: Stewart

Our premiers take on the 3rd place Cockburn side who need a win to seal 3rd position on the ladder and some finals action the following week. If this was being played at Cockburn they would be good things but this will be a tougher test. Kalamunda El Supremo, Bill Brandsma was seen handing out T shirts and caps to all and sundry during the week celebrating the promotion and why not. Can they re focus on this one - yes they can and despite Cockburn having all to play for I think Kalamunda will still be too good at home.
Kalamunda 6-2

Warnbro v Willetton

Warnbro
John Isgar, Les Blechynden, John Radford, Dennis Pattullo
David Fitzpatrick, Thomas Watson, Danny Watson, Barry Kalinowsky
Peter Hartnett, Garry Watts, Bill Taylor, George Jackson
Paul Guelfi, Terry Williams, Colin Hickinbotham, Troy Dellar
INS: Taylor
OUTS: Christie

Willetton
Ron Bayens, Rob Langley, David Reynolds, Cameron Girvan
Peter McSweeney, Ernest Lagana, Ken Monkhouse, Alan Walters
Rhonda Porter, Mick Phillips, Peter Bartoshefski, Gavin Dodge
John Porter, Maxwell Strange, Trevor Thompson, Justin Wright
INS: Phillips
OUTS: Baker

Both teams with alot to play for.in this one. Warnbro sitting in 9th place and they will need as big a win as they can to try and get themselves to safety. I don’t think that they can get to 6th even with an 8 nil win but they can get into the challenge matches and that will be their goal. Willetton are still a good chance for 3rd place provided that Kalamunda can defeat Cockburn. Willetton have been so good all season and just when you want to doubt them they come and surprise you so a win is not out of the question. This is setup for Warnbro and they will go in as favourites despite the fact they have dropped some games at home this year but can they produce when it counts. A tough one to call but I have a slight leaning to Warnbro at home.
Warnbro 7-1

Rockingham v Thornlie

Rockingham
Ivan Wright, Ian Barrett, Pietro Villa, Mark Devenny
Rodney George, Terry Rubery, Graeme Roberts, Bruce Edwards
Kim Tremlett, Fred Smith, Lindsay Atkins, Victor Arriagada
Keith Fyles, Tony Threlfall, Stuart Currie, Marcus Simpson
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Thornlie
Francis Woodard, Pasquale Riggio, Clive Penaluna, Daniel Slade
Frank Radi, Salvatore Ocello, Glyn Vaughan, Jim Stean
Matthew Criddle, Pierre De Meuse, Wayne Wendt, Robert Carruthers
Arthur Payne, Darryl Fielder, Terence McCormack, Michael McGann
INS: Criddle, Carruthers
OUTS: Mayers, Stokes

Another intriguing match particularly around Rockingham and whether they could sneak into 3rd place on the ladder. With Thornlie heading off to 2nd division next season Rockingham will be eyeing off an 8 nil win. If they could secure this result and both Cockburn and Willetton are defeated they are a high chance of grabbing the coveted 3rd place on the ladder. And that would be some sort of comeback given late in the season they were really struggling and slipping into the bottom 4 was a possibility. Unfortunately for Thornlie even a win would not save them unless we get some very strange results and I don’t think we will.
Rockingham 7-1

Dalkeith Nedlands v Forrestfield & Districts

Dalkeith Nedlands
Michael Joyce, Aleksander Gryta, Michael Zusman, Andrew Foster
Ross Mackenzie, John McCormack, Matthew Green, Martin Saunders
Peter Jeanes, David Fitzgerald, Jesse Brown, Michael Yates
Rob Kelly, Simon Gazia, Rob Moran, Darren Redeckis
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Forrestfield & Districts
David Croft, Lee Stedman, Sandra Young, Rhys Cummings
Laurie Delcaro, Kirk Weissflog, Mark Vatri, Rhys Tillemans
Jack Tillemans, John Alderton, John Forrest, Glenn Sewell
Frank Gore, Alex Fewings, Corey Holland, Trent Tillemans
INS: Alderton, Gore
OUTS: Weppner, Carr

Well this is a big match in terms of who could grab 6th place. If Dalkeith win then 6th place is guaranteed whilst Forrestfield would need a 7-1 win to also guarantee 6th place. A 6-2 win to Forrestfield and an 8 nil win to Rossmoyne against Kardinya would see Rossmoyne leap into 6th place. Looking at the teams Forrestfield with a notable out in skipper Jarrad Weppner not playing in this one. That is a huge loss with Weppner sitting in top place amongst the Forrestfield skippers with 8 wins this season. Dalkeith have been pretty solid all season and have won their past 2 over Kardinya and Thornlie so are in good form. They will go in as favourites and I think with Weppner out they can secure the points and 6th place on the ladder.
Dalkeith 6-2

Rossmoyne v Kardinya

Rossmoyne
David Horniman, Mark Armstrong, Walter Harvey, Craig Edson
Allan Herbert, John Fitzgerald, Allan Petchell, Anthony Churcher
Danny Nolan, Grahame Maesepp, Peter Feszczak, Reza Vind
Gary Frampton, Anthony Regan, Raymond Halse, Rawley Lang
INS: No changes
OUTS:

Kardinya

OUTS:

As highlighted earlier Rossmoyne need to win and win big to have any chance of 6th place. It is a possibility given that Kardinya have a bit of a limp on as they move towards finels week. But an 8 nil win is probably not the most likely scenario but I am sure that Mayor Lang will have this on the whiteboard as they prepare for this one. A win will guarantee that they will stay in either 7th or 8th and have a 2nd chance in the challenge fixtures the week after. Kardinya out of form and they will be looking to get things back on track as they head towards finals action. Another tough one but I think Rossmoyne could be up and about for this one and they should take this in the end.
Rossmoyne 7-1
