After this round we’re down to 4 games, not even 1/3 left so it’s show time for many sides with mid table & finals spots just a blur that anything can happen.
Let’s be honest you can say magically this & that but any side coming into R14 only losing 2 games is clearly getting the big ticket to the big dance. The Beach Boys are officially back!!
The bottom can be viewed similarly in that it’s highly unlikely that 9th & 10th will change but I’ll hold tongue on this for 1 week as normally we see some side go on a purple tear after Christmas every year but I feel we’ve not seen this. Maybe it’s yet to come, a side going 4-0 to change their fortunes!

The Dolphins are probably halfway to the ‘Olympics’. For those for don’t remember we brought in the ‘Olympics’ a few years ago…that’s any side that loses by 0-8, 5 times in a season gets crowned ‘Olympic Champion’ (ie. 5 rings of 0). The beautiful irony of the ‘Olympic champion’ in 1 White is you are 100% not related in any facet or form of a champion!! Jokes aside, our high pitched hero’s have lost the last 2 games by 0-8 aka the big donut. Needless to say Joondalup need a big Agg & there’s no massive reasoning to say they can’t flip that 0-8 this round.
To prevent the donut from the Pioneers side they’ve

The Cougars are screaming for an Agg here & they know ever so well that beating Kats likely gets them 2nd spot & a proper crack at Finals. Won’t we love to see the cards fall that Bill plays Allen, that’s 2nd v 3rd in the skippers ladder for an epic head to head encounter. Make it happen, please?!
These are the games that define seasons, define clubs destination for the next 2-3 years. You have 1 side with a recent memory of life in the big dance but things have changed & another who were happy drinking beer in the hills speaking of memories long gone & talking of what could have been to now asking genuine serious questions of each other…….’do we really want to play PL’.

The Reds get another solid chance to get some pts on the board for artistic reasons but also credible for next season in building that confidence. If they harass that Kardinya performance they’ll do just fine against Mossies.
Mossies away is a dice roll but they’ll be thinking if we can’t put away the bottom side then what hope do we have. They could be right. They were brilliant against The Bay last week but that was coming off a month of spanking, yes no ‘Olympic scores’ but losses that just shouldn’t have happened.
The positive of this game is someone takes value from this game & that side for me is the one that has more hunger. It’s hard to get hunger a month out when playing for very little so I think the Reds will play for the badge.

GAME OF THE ROUND: Easy pick for game of the round as The Bay took a trip down to Tyrepower during the week as the wheels have come right off the chariot since Christmas. They’ll need the new off terrain tyres to get them out of this sticky situation.
Once cruising at the top & now dropping this against a side that seem to score more 8 this season than I can remember, leaves them likely outside of Finals. If the Bay look into their Magic 8 ball they’ll need to read some inspirational fortune telling lines to drive the confidence to take an Agg off the Beach Boys. Tough one to call as the Beach Boys are just humming & that’s surprising includes away too but if they’ve going to drop another away Agg if just might be here against the home track bullies. The Bay just might get the early jump as North Beach are slow away after the 4hr trip down south.

The Eagles have an opportunity here to get a 50% assurity of safety. There’s only 2 sides that could get them in trouble for the rest of the season & it’s the Saints & Mossies. Putting the Saints away here probably locks the Saints into 8th with little chance of 6th.
On the flip side Manning have a chance to push for Finals with a big Agg. They may even say they should be 2nd with only 5 losses this season but yet they’re 5pts off 2nd, close enough to strike but it seems little an anomaly. They’ve lost the 2nd least amount of games, are 1 win off 2nd but yet score diff is negative & they don’t have a skipper in the top 20?!
Given the above 8th position statement for Saints it’s obvious what needs to happen & that’s an Agg in any form or the Dolphins might close that gap to 9th making the last few weeks a real scramble. It’s possible after last weeks heroics at North Perth.
